Vehicle: 2014 Ford Fiesta Van 1.6 TDCi
Complaint: Intermittent crank no start — sometimes fired up, sometimes completely dead.
🔍 Initial checks carried out:
✔️ Full module communication check
✔️ Immobiliser live data verified
✔️ Fuel pressure data checked
All initial system checks passed with no obvious faults found.
Rather than guessing or replacing parts unnecessarily, we moved deeper into the diagnosis using a PicoScope Relative Compression Test.
📉 Results showed a clear compression imbalance.
Further investigation pointed towards an intermittent mechanical issue:
❌ Valve sticking open / not seating correctly
Unfortunately, with the vehicle exceeding 200,000 miles, the customer decided not to proceed further due to repair costs outweighing the vehicle’s value.
